Smithbrook banding report   6-7 November 2010.

The weather was mostly overcast with odd patches of sun.  The nets were opened at 7am on both days but the birds slept in on Sunday – we didn’t band the first until 8.45am. Fewer than normal nets were erected due to wrens nesting right beside the uphill net line. (Lyanne has located 70 nests so far in the reserve)

We had a very pleasant weekend with plenty of time for chatting and relaxing.

Of particular interest were a White-breasted Robin and a Golden Whistler which were banded in April 2000, and a White-browed Scrub-wren that was banded in April 2002. Only the PMG site was used.
